As long as we’re okay.

boyslikegirlslikeboys:

I don’t mind all the fussing, and fighting. All the false blaming, along with tears falling. As long as our love for one another overcomes the struggles we face. And at the end of the day, I’m happy with you, you’re happy with me, and we know in our hearts with each other is where we’re destined to be, that’s all that matters to me.

Pink Zebra Ninja Shoes

r0bertbrowniejr:

Yesterday my mom posted a picture on Facebook of my 5 year old brother Sam wearing a pair of shoes he picked out for his first day of preschool.

She explained to him in the store that they were really made for girls. Sam then told her that he didn’t care and that “ninjas can wear pink shoes too.”

Sam went to preschool and got several compliments on his new shoes. Not one kid said anything negative toward him about it.

However, my mom received about 20 comments on the photo from various family members saying how “wrong” it is and how “things like this will affect him socially” and, put most eloquently by my great aunt, “that shit will turn him gay.”

My mom then deleted the photo and told Sam that he can wear whatever he wants to preschool, that it’s his decision. If he wants to wear pink shoes, he can wear pink shoes.

Sam then explained to her that he didn’t like them because they were pink, he liked them because they were “made out of zebras” and zebras are his favorite animal :)

I believe in infinity but at the same time I’m convinced that nothing lasts forever. I like people but at the same time I dislike them. I love being alone but I hate being lonely. I am an opposite in myself and I am two personalities in one.

You know what amazes me? Kids like him on the right. I met him today. He accidentally ran into me while playing catch with his friend. He looked at me and immediately freaked out saying sorry a million times, and then all of a sudden he stopped. He told me he used to be afraid of kids who were big and strong like me, because he was bullied in school for his weight. I asked why it didn’t bother him anymore, and he told me he went through a huge time of depression, and then realized he should love who he is no matter what.  And that it doesn’t matter what you look like, what you weigh, or who likes you. He said as long as he was content with how he looked, how he weighed, and who liked him, he was happy and that’s all that mattered. It’s kids like HIM who show me that everyone can be strong. That everyone has a reason to smile and be confident. I wanted to get a picture with him to spread his story. He’s an inspiring kid, and everyone should take his advice.

dawnyahokulani:

Being the oldest of these kids, I worry the most. Knowing they’re hurting or being bothered by something, affects me more than it does them. Knowing there’s not much I can do to help them, kills me inside.
Being the oldest of them, I feel like I’m another parent. I do more than my parents do,…
